Last week we reported on the buzz around the LPGA and PGA tours that Michelle Wie was going to stop playing against the men for a little while and focus on playing and beating the women. We thought it was a great idea, an idea that came from her coach David Leadbetter.
However, the agency that speaks on behalf of the family and Wie herself has said, “It’s fair to say no options have been ruled out.”
We here at Wie Blogging were very happy that she was deciding to focus her efforts on the LPGA and build her game to dominate the women’s tour and then focus on the men’s tour. It just seems like the right thing to do to help her put all the buzz and hoopla that always surrounds her golf game to the side.
We’ll just have to wait and see if she decides she needs to accept those exemptions and keep playing against the men.

Personally I think they should stop this madnnes now the women should play with the women and the men should play with the men. If I were on the mens tour and i finished dead last I would play on the womens tour and make more money. In all honesty I love Michelle but she needs to develop her mental game by going to college and getting more life experience. We are pushing these kids too soon to turn pro. If this continues the pga will end up like the nba and the players coming straight out of highschool wont know the game and the game will suffer.
in talking to the pga players (even the local ones) here in az, since last year, they’ve stopped thinking about the wie phenomena. it’s even worse now since the competition at the lpga is at a much higher level now than when ms. wie even thought that the lgpa wasn’t part of her career path. it looks to be even more painful for the wie camp next year.
